The Issue at Hand
Despite progress in health and education, many communities in Pakistan continue to face structural barriers that limit access to information, opportunities and equitable participation in society. Menstrual health remains one of the most overlooked challenges affecting adolescent girls. Globally, an estimated 500 million women and girls lack adequate menstrual hygiene facilities, according to UNICEF and World Health Organization. In Pakistan, limited awareness, stigma and lack of affordable menstrual products continue to affect girls’ health and confidence. According to UNESCO, approximately 22.8 million children in Pakistan are out of school, of which nearly 12 million are girls, highlighting persistent gender disparities in access to education. At the same time, emerging concerns such as mental health challenges, body image pressures and eating disorders among adolescents and young women remain under-recognized due to social stigma and lack of open discussion. Addressing these interconnected challenges requires community-driven solutions that strengthen health literacy, improve access to safe menstrual health resources, support girls’ education and empower women to participate fully in social and economic life. FemPure Global Empowerment and Wellness Society was established to help bridge these gaps by promoting health education, gender equity and community empowerment through research, advocacy and inclusive programs.
Our Response
At Fempure Global Empowerment and Wellness Society, we believe that sustainable change requires community-driven solutions that address the root causes of inequality and limited access to health and education. Our response focuses on transforming research and knowledge into practical actions that empower individuals particularly women and girls to make informed decisions about their health, education and wellbeing. Through integrated programs, FGEWS works to strengthen health literacy, promote menstrual health and hygiene awareness, support girls’ education and advance women’s empowerment and leadership. We engage communities through education, dialogue and capacity-building initiatives that create safe spaces where sensitive health and social issues can be discussed openly and without stigma. Our approach also emphasizes evidence-based advocacy and partnerships with educators, health professionals, community leaders and policy stakeholders to promote sustainable solutions. By bridging research, education and community engagement, FGEWS aims to build resilient communities where women and young people have the knowledge, confidence and opportunities needed to lead healthier, more equitable and empowered lives.
